Grundy Area Arts Council
About the JAM Program
We are excited to announce that Grundy Area Arts Council is planning a Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program to serve the young people of the South Cumberland Plateau. JAM seeks to preserve our important mountain music heritage by offering low cost lessons in fiddle, banjo, guitar and other instruments of the Appalachian region to small groups of students in after school settings.
We are currently hoping to begin a program in October 2024. Classes will be offered at The Littell-Partin Center Monday/Tuesday/Thursday in partnership with the Littell-Partin After School Program. Children will need to commit to attendance at all weekly classes.
Please call to discuss transportation options to the program. Parents will need to pick up students at 5 pm. Costs will be kept low. Instruments will be provided for JAM students during the time of their participation in the program.
In order to help us plan the program we need to hear from you. If you and your child are interested please give us the information requested in the Student Interest Form (below or to the right).
Instrument possibilities include: (fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar)
